We are back with Season 2 of Kitchen Design Awards—a bold platform dedicated to celebrating the most forward-thinking spaces in the country. This first-of-its-kind collaboration with AD India unites pioneers from architecture, interior design and emerging studios who are pushing the boundaries of what a kitchen can be.

For years, luxury design was focused on materials, finishes and luxury. This is particularly true when it comes to the heart of your home—the kitchen. Today, homeowners want a kitchen that is aesthetic but also intelligent. This is a kitchen that anticipates needs, simplifies effort and turns everyday routines into seamless experiences.

Keeping in mind these insights, the theme for this year’s Kitchen Design Awards is ‘Design that thinks, spaces that delight’.

In 2025, the first edition of the Kitchen Design Awards celebrated creative excellence through innovative, functional and sustainable designs. Some of the most influential voices in the architecture and design community, such as the founder of The Charcoal Project, Sussanne Khan; food and design curator, Eeshaan Kashyap; and celebrity chef Sarah Todd, came together to have trendsetting conversations.

Upping the ante this year, the awards will feature a curated guest list, future-defining innovations, and insightful panel discussions. We’ve also expanded the program to include eight distinct award categories.

Award categories

There are eight categories you can apply for:

DELIGHTFUL RESIDENTIAL KITCHENS

This award recognises outstanding residential designs, through aesthetics, smart integrations and creativity. We are looking for homes where design meets everyday living. The spaces should combine aesthetics, smart integrations and creativity in a way that genuinely enhances daily life.

BEST INTELLIGENT KITCHEN INTEGRATION

This category recognises innovative use of smart technology, remote-controlled appliances and energy-efficient solutions. Here, we’re awarding spaces that use technology in a truly meaningful way—from smart appliances and remote controls to energy-efficient systems that make life easier, not more complicated.

SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH SMART DESIGN

This award celebrates the best use of eco-friendly materials, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices. Entries will be judged on the use of responsible materials and the stand-out sustainable practices that define the kitchen’s design.

INTELLIGENCE MEETS HERITAGE KITCHENS

This category celebrates designs that strike a beautiful balance between tradition and innovation. We’re looking for kitchens that retain their heritage character while seamlessly integrating modern, intelligent solutions.

INSPIRING COMPACT KITCHENS

This category focuses on maximum functionality, smart storage and spatial efficiency in a small space. Entries will be assessed on how the design ensures functionality despite limited space, the top solutions used for compact kitchen design, and how functionality is combined with utilitarianism.

ECLECTIC-FIRST KITCHENS

Eclectic-first kitchens are defined by bold, creative expression and unexpected design–tech combinations. This one is for spaces that embrace individuality, unexpected design choices and unique combinations of technology and style.

BEST OPEN KITCHEN LAYOUT

Open-plan kitchens truly work as social spaces—where cooking, hosting and living come together in a fluid, thoughtful layout. This category recognises open layout designs that create the best, most creative space to host and cook.

BEST USE OF MATERIALS, FINISHES AND COLOUR IN KITCHEN DESIGN

The award recognises designs that enhance aesthetics and durability through innovative material choices. Judges will consider the most innovative materials used, the designer’s understanding of colour theory, and the incorporation of underrated materials or finishes.

Evaluation process

An expert panel of interior designers/architects and design enthusiasts will evaluate the entries. The designs that are most in line with the theme of ‘Design that thinks, spaces that delight’ will stand a chance of winning. The top eight winning entries will be felicitated at an award ceremony and featured in AD India.
